Starting in February 2011 and finishing in August 2011, I joined the 8linQ team to make the iPhone/iPad game, ‘Say What?!’.
It’s an fantastic music-based game with an original concept – matching the lyrics of well known songs to physical items on a conveyor belt representing those words while the song plays.
Scores are recorded on a global highscore system along with Facebook integration. The game also contains an ‘In-App’ store allowing the owner to purchase and download new songs from an on-line store! Other features include iAds for additional revenue, Push Notifications and Chart Eligibilty for purchased songs.
My main contribution to the App was nearly all the front end programming; building the main game, menus and creating the user interaction and experience. This also included optimising the code near the end of the project to decrease lag and solve memory issues.
I also designed the cloud server topology and setup and maintained the linux servers. I built several web services (App Highscore system, Push Notifications) that expose public-facing APIs for manipulating data by the App and other clients such as Facebook.
